Tour Description

Impressed with Belgrade but would like to discover something hidden, unique, a bit “out of the box” oriented – you should visit Zemun at once! Zemun has officially been declared one of the Belgrade municipalities in 1934. However, for centuries it was an independent borderline town with its own unique character and dynamic development. Most of the urban center of the settlement was erected in late 18th and during the 19th Century, when Zemun was still part of Habsburg Empire (later: Austria-Hungary). That is why this part of the town is much more reminiscent to Budapest or Vienna than to rest of Belgrade and central Serbia! Authentic central-European architecture is still visible in some residential areas, parks and churches. Small squares near Danube are warm and beautifully decorated surfaces that will remind you to the looks of many Mediterranean coastal towns. Join us on this interesting and relaxing journey and find out why Zemunians still have such strong local identity and are referring themselves as “the first neighbors of Belgradeers”. Some of the best fish restaurants in Serbia are located there, as like many nice Italian cuisine places, craft beer pubs and cafés. If you are looking to discover something different and peculiar within the borders of Belgrade, Zemun tour is the one for you. Wherever you travel next you won’t forget the magnificent view from the Gardos tower or beautiful Danube river quay.
